Over the years I have collected and curated strategies that other people have used to reduce their screen-time. I plan on posting them from time to time. Here you go!

Please note that these are quotes from other people.

1. iPhone as landline

I have my phone in the kitchen counter. I keep it charging there. I'm only allowed to use the phone in the kitchen while I'm standing, unless I'm going outside and I must take my phone with me. I used to have my phone in my room because I used it as an alarm but now I use google home.

2. No Face-ID / Touch-ID

I have disabled Face ID unlock and I have a long alphanumeric password, 20+ characters. This causes me to dread opening my phone because it takes too long.

3. How I fixed my smartphone addiction by George Mack

How I fixed my smartphone addiction:
I have 2 phones: Cocaine Phone & Kale Phone.

Here's how it works:

  1. The Smartphone Paradox - Your phone is a gateway to the world's best knowledge -- and the world's best distractions. It's like having the best teachers, strip clubs, and social clubs in your pocket 24-7.

  2. Society's Solution - There are 2 paths people use to deal with the smartphone paradox:

    • Phone addict - Glued to phone constantly.

    • Phoneless luddite - No access to the best technology of this century so far. You either burn out or miss out.

Instead, there's a 3rd door nobody in society is talking about: The Cocaine-Kale Phone protocol.
